Most transitions complete within one to two weeks. We handle all communication with your existing manager, collect your tenant files and keys, and introduce ourselves to your tenant. You do not need to do anything.
You will need to provide notice to your existing manager as per your management agreement — typically 30 days. We can help you draft this notice and guide you through any exit clauses. In many cases, if your existing manager has breached their obligations, you may be able to exit immediately.
Your tenant's lease, rent amount, and living situation remain unchanged. We introduce ourselves in writing, provide our contact details, and ensure there is no disruption to their tenancy. Most tenants appreciate improved communication from the transition.
The tenant bond held with the RTA transfers to Housit as part of the management transition. We handle all the RTA paperwork. No action is required from your tenant.
There are no fees to switch to Housit. Our $39 per week management fee begins once we take over. The only cost is the one-off tenant placement fee of $550 or one week's rent, whichever is lower — and this only applies when a new tenant is placed, not on transition.
